Dr. Alba Pergjika

Dr. Alba Pergjika is an Albanian American physician, educator, and advocate with a deep commitment to advancing mental health care and supporting underserved communities. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and as Medical Director of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Consultation Service at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Board certified in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Pergjika specializes in the psychiatric care of medically ill children, integrating compassion, cultural awareness, and clinical innovation into her practice.

She earned her medical degree and Cum Laude Master of Public Health from St. George’s University. Dr. Pergjika completed her adult psychiatry residency at Baystate Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Throughout her career at Lurie Children’s, Dr. Pergjika has led hospital-wide initiatives to improve the care of children presenting with behavioral health needs, particularly in emergency and inpatient medical settings. She has shared her expertise nationally and internationally through presentations and publications.

As a board member of Care for Albania, Dr. Pergjika brings her professional experience and personal heritage to support the organization’s mission of enhancing mental health support and building community. Her understanding of cultural nuance, coupled with her clinical expertise, helps guide Care for Albania’s targeted initiatives in the United States and aid programs in Albania and surrounding regions.
